RMC Water and Environment is committed to making positive environmental contributions through the development of sustainable water projects in California. In 2016, RMC Water and Environment prepared a program that received the Outstanding Environmental Analysis Document Award from AEP.

The award-winning North Valley Regional Recycled Water Program EIR/EIS was designed to assist the farming industry located within the Del Puerto Water District (DPWD), which has seen major job losses and economic downturn due to drought conditions and restrictions imposed on farming outfits in the state.

Municipalities and agencies that partnered for the program include the California cities of Modesto, Turlock, and Ceres, as well as Stanislaus County and the DPWD. Under the new plan, treated water, which once was routed to the San Joaquin River from Turlock and Modesto, will now be sent via pipeline to the DPWD. The DPWD will then deliver the water to farmers within its jurisdiction.

Under this program, local farmers could receive enough water to cover over 30,000 acre feet annually by the year 2018.
