RMC Water and Environment, a California firm with eight offices throughout the state, focuses on engineering projects involving the use and reuse of water resources. RMC Water and Environment’s expertise has garnered several accolades for its environmentally-friendly construction projects. One such honor garnered by the business was the 2013 Engineering and Achievement Award, presented by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA).
The Engineering and Achievement Award was given in recognition of RMC’s outstanding work on the Novato Sanitary District’s Recycled Water Facility, located in the CWEA’s Redwood Empire section. Utilized in the facility’s construction are abandoned process structures, repurposed to work in a new environment. This reuse enabled the district to reduce construction-related impacts and costs by 25%. It also decreased the amount of debris.
In addition to promoting successful wastewater projects, the CWEA award is intended to enhance the skills of all individuals working in the engineering community. It is also meant to boost public awareness of the importance of clean water to public health.
