IWR Plans Receive High Marks from British Environmental Journal

RMC Water and Environment is a water resources organization that also provides civil engineering, water recycling, and environmental planning services. To date, RMC Water and Environment, located in Walnut Creek, California, has worked on nearly 130 water recycling projects. The company’s integrated regional water management planning efforts have recently been chronicled in the British Journal of Environment and Climate Change.

In the July-September 2013 edition of the British Journal of Environment and Climate Change, the journal documented the plans currently defining California’s Integrated Regional Water Management Plan. The Integrated Water Resources (IWR) plans include a wide range of interrelated strategies including the Integrated Water Flow Model (IWFM) as well as the Integrated Groundwater and Surface Water Model (IGSM). Recently the California Department of Water Resources (CADWR) has concentrated its efforts on modernizing the IGSM while developing independent models capable of estimating the water demand that will be placed on agricultural hubs. Overall, the journal found the current and growing IWR initiatives and models to be highly effective in a wide variety of scenarios.
